UNIVERSITY / GRADUATE PROGRAMS

In recent years, the increase in paid education options within Turkey has led to a rise in students considering education opportunities in the United States. Considering that tuition fees at a paid university in Turkey that can be considered prestigious may vary significantly, it becomes quite reasonable for students to choose this path by also considering the additional advantages of graduating from a university abroad. Both the career opportunities that a diploma obtained in a foreign country can provide and the personal development benefits of spending a long time abroad make overseas university education even more attractive.
Who Can Go?
Anyone who has completed high school and/or university education and meets the admission requirements of universities in the United States may pursue university and/or graduate education in the USA. Applicants who wish to study at a university in the USA must meet the requirements determined by the university they apply to. Admission requirements vary between universities.
General Application Requirements
- Exam score documents showing academic and foreign language proficiency (SAT, ACT, TOEFL, etc.)
- Documents indicating educational (academic achievement) status
- Documents showing financial status
- For some departments, documents showing results of subject/aptitude exams
- Resume and statement of purpose prepared in English
- Reference letters
CERTIFICATE AND DIPLOMA PROGRAMS
Certificate & Diploma Programs, which have attracted significant interest in recent years from university graduates who aim for a serious career, enable students to receive training in a desired field in the USA within a short period and at affordable costs, and to obtain a certificate in that field.
In terms of content, these programs are structured from courses in specific areas of undergraduate programs and cover a training period ranging from 3 to 9 months. Certificate & Diploma Programs are offered as practical programs within world-renowned universities or colleges affiliated with universities and serve as an important building block for students’ careers.
Certificate & diploma programs offered in many fields such as business, finance, tourism, marketing, and banking are aimed at specialization in a short time. These programs are delivered by professionals specialized in the field, providing practical solutions rather than purely theoretical knowledge.
Certificate & Diploma Programs also offer students internship opportunities at leading American companies. In this way, students can apply their learning in the real business world and in a more professional environment. Moreover, if students enroll in nine-month programs, they may also become eligible for a legally authorized one-year paid work permit in the USA (OPT) upon completion. Thus, students return to our country with a strong CV by receiving one year of education at high-quality institutions and gaining one year of work experience in the USA.
Who Can Attend?
High school graduates, university students/graduates, business owners, or managers who want to make a strong start in the business world and advance their careers may attend Certificate & Diploma programs.
To participate in Certificate & Diploma programs, English proficiency is very important. Anyone with at least a B2 level of English may attend these programs. If a student’s English level is not sufficient, they may attend language courses before starting the program at the school they enroll in.

THE AMERICAN EDUCATION SYSTEM
There is no centralized education system.
Each state has an authorized institution responsible for determining education policies within its jurisdiction.
This type of education system offers a wide range of opportunities for international students; however, it can also make it difficult to understand the system from afar and to make a choice among so many options.
Colleges, Universities, and Institutes: We often hear these terms, but what is the difference between them?
In the USA, degree-granting institutions may carry any of these names, and it cannot be said that colleges and institutes are inferior to universities in any way. Generally, colleges are smaller and mostly offer undergraduate degrees only.
Universities also offer graduate degrees.
An institute generally specializes in diploma programs for closely related subject groups. Therefore, you will encounter diploma programs offered at institutes of technology, fashion institutes, art and design institutes, and similar institutions.
Within each college or university, there are schools such as the School of Arts and Sciences, the Business School, etc. Each school is responsible for the degree programs offered by the college or university in its field.
Associate’s Degree
2-year education
Community colleges or junior colleges
Lower tuition fees
Bachelor’s Degree
4-year education
College, university, or institute
A wide variety of majors
Academic Calendar
The academic year may vary slightly from one university or college to another, but it generally runs from early September to late May. It can be divided into two 18-week terms, called semesters. Alternatively, universities may operate on “quarter” terms lasting 12 weeks, known as trimesters. In addition, universities often offer summer terms lasting six to eight weeks. These terms are optional. Students attend these terms to accelerate their degree programs, reduce their course load during regular terms, or complete courses they did not pass during the standard academic year. There are two major holidays during the academic year: a break of two to four weeks around Christmas and a one-week spring break around early March to mid-April.
Credit System
Students at American universities complete their degree programs when they accumulate a certain number of “credits.” Typically, graduation requires an average of 130 to 180 credits. Sometimes, instead of credits, the terms “semester hours” or “units” may be used. Each course taken per semester provides a certain number (usually three or four) of credits/hours/units. Your academic advisor will help you plan your course schedule for the academic year.
ESSAY / STATEMENT OF PURPOSE REVIEW
